Catharine Louise Hess (Caty Lou) is 73 years old and began writing songs in March of 2012 . Within a few short weeks she had written over 100 songs.
Several months after that, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. That struggle increased her focus and creative output. A prolific songwriter who occasionally touches on brilliance, she has a catalog of more than five hundred songs at present.
Catharine is seeking to connect with musicians and songwriters, both inside and outside the music industry, in an effort to develop her music and see it used widely.
As part of this process, she is taking music and voice lessons from Melissa Wickline and together they are working on arranging some of her songs to be recorded on a demo CD by Melissa’s husband Shannon (who, among other things, is keyboard player for Charlie Daniels).
She also performs her music in public whenever possible, usually acapella but sometimes with backing musicians. She has performed at many smaller venues in Nashville, TN, Franklin, TN, and her hometown of Hohenwald, TN, including a benefit to raise money for another woman who was battling cancer.
