Doubt

There’s a thing that will defeat you
No matter how hard you fight
It is silent and it will defeat you
It is not a weapon it is just called, “doubt”

Doubt is a kinsman to the devil
No matter how strong the sword, do not doubt
The mind is a worthy adversary certainly
And it will defeat you, be assured, my good fellows

Doubt that you can do it and you will be right
Believe with all your might and you’ll win the fight
Like the Little Engine That Could, dig your heels in and give it your all
Be glad that you tackled the thing that couldn’t be and you did it

For everything there is a season but never one for doubt
When you give it your all you win ever when you are defeated
You look in the mirror and smile feeling oh, so proud
“Next time,” you say, “I’ll try even harder I will win that bout

Do the very best that you can do no matter the task
Self-respect you will earn, and in stone it will be cast
It’s not how many times you fall—only how many times you rise
Do the very best that you can do—no matter how hard the task

There’s a think that will defeat you
No matter how hard you fight
It is silent and it will defeat you
It is not a weapon, it is called, “doubt
